The lab is located at the Life Sciences Center Weihenstephan of the TU München. We are a member of the Munich Center of Molecular Life Sciences.
We are interested in metabolism, development, and evolution of plants. We use a combination of classical genetic and molecular tools to study the model systems Zea mays, Arabidopsis thaliana, and some other species.
We apply metabolite profiling, transcriptomics, modern imaging techniques, and transgenic approaches. The focus of our research is
- Secondary plant metabolism (Benzoxazinoids) and defence (Gierl and Frey),
- Embryo development and polyploidization (Torres Ruiz),
- Phytoalexins (Camalexin) and tryptophan metabolism (Glawischnig),
- Metabolomics (Römisch-Margl).
